The Committee’s Mission

The Committee for European and International Affairs (CAEI) is tasked with strengthening Astee’s international outreach and fostering exchanges with key networks and organizations active in the fields of water and waste management.

Astee

Astee within International Networks

Astee is the representative of France withing the main international associations in its fields: the European Water Association (EWA), the International Water Association (IWA), the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), alongside the French Waste Partnership (PFD), and CEOCOR.

The association also serves on the Steering Committee of the OECD’s Water Governance Initiative.

Partnerships and International Cooperation

Astee is developing collaborations with several partners active in the fields of water and waste management, including the French Waste Partnership (PFD), the French Water Partnership (PFE), the Water Solidarity Program (pS-Eau), the International Office for Water (OiEau), and the World Water Council (CME).

Since 2023, Astee has co-led the French chapter of Young Water Professionals (YWP) with the IWA, thereby helping to engage young professionals in international networks.

These commitments enable Astee to participate in international strategic discussions, contribute to the development of common positions, and share with its members the latest developments, innovations, and emerging challenges in the water and waste management sectors.

The CAEI’s Missions

The CAEI aims to promote the exchange of international information amongst Astee members and to build bridges between the association’s work and major European and global trends.

To carry out this mission, it is organized around three complementary entities.

The Steering Committee for the International Session of the Astee Congress

This committee supports the preparation of the international session of the Astee Congress by helping to define the themes, identify speakers, and develop the program.

The “Water Governance” Working Group

This working group monitors discussions and initiatives within key European and international bodies addressing water governance issues. The working group also conducts research to strengthen France’s position at major global events (such as the World Water Forum, the IWA Annual Congress, and EWA conferences).

The Expanded Committee (CAEI)

Open to all Astee members interested in international issues, this committee aims to foster dialogue and share information. Its main activities include:

disseminating scientific, technical, and institutional news related to the water and waste management sectors;

promoting the work and publications of Astee’s international partners;
developing a newsletter dedicated to European and international topics;
organizing events focused on sharing experiences and international initiatives.
